Marilyn Welcomes You

Posted by
Bill Brown (California, United States) on 20 May 2013 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

After leaving Apple Valley we made our way to Palm Springs, Ca. This Marilyn Monroe statue greets you as you drive into downtown. The giant statue is 26 feet tall and weights 34,000 lbs. It was previously in Chicago for about 10 months and will be in Palm Springs until June 10, 2013.

I like the idea of art being moved around like that . . each location will impart something different.

@Ronnie 2¢: The statue arrived in Palm Springs last year in time to celebrate Marilyn’s birthday in June and the 50th anniversary of her death this past August.
