Mare Island Naval Shipyard - Chapel

Posted by
Bill Brown (California, United States) on 15 November 2012 in Documentary & Street and Portfolio.

Mare Island Project: November 2012

History: St. Peter's Chapel (built 1901) is the oldest naval chapel in the United States. It is renowned for the beautiful Tiffany designed stained glass windows. Its twenty-nine exquisite stained glass windows were installed over a thirty year period to honor individuals and groups such as the "Women of the Navy and Marines." Twenty-five of the windows are known to be from the Tiffany Studios.
