Wild Turkeys - 1 of 2

Posted by
Bill Brown (California, United States) on 30 March 2012 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

It's not unusual to find wild turkeys strolling the street in my area. I caught these on the edge of my front lawn last week.

LauraS from Chico, United States

Wow, Bill. Right on your own front lawn? You are a lucky man.

30 Mar 2012 4:23pm

@LauraS: That's right on the front lawn. Actually a few days after this, some of them showed up in my back yard, which is fenced in. They apparently jumped the fence because by the time I fetched my camera they were jumping over the back fence.

Denny Jump Photo from Easton, PA, United States

Beautiful shot Bill :-) They have their eyes on those Lilly of the Nile across the street - they know that there are snails in the leaves and they probably love escargot! Nice to see the rain too ;-)

@Denny Jump Photo: Probably so Denny. Thanks for the comments.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Are these your pets, Bill? ;-) Great shot!

30 Mar 2012 5:27pm

@Steve Rice: No, but they have adopted the neighborhood as their playground.

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

I imagine they make themselves pretty scarce around late November! Well seen and captured Bill! ;-)

30 Mar 2012 6:04pm

@Eric Cousineau: They are very brave so we might still spot a few.

Elaine Hancock from Rockville, United States

That is pretty amazing! They seem so tame! I have never seen a wild turkey before.

30 Mar 2012 10:51pm

@Elaine Hancock: Well you will see plenty of them if you visit my neighborhood.

Jason Politte from Conway, AR, United States

How cool is that to have wild turkeys in your neighborhood! :-) Great shot of them.

31 Mar 2012 1:10am

@Jason Politte: For some reason they seem to really like my area.
