Security! Security!

What the heck, right? Let me explain. I had been taking pictures at the lake for about 30 - 40 minutes when I snapped this picture. Shortly after taking the picture I was approached by a security guard. So it made me wonder, was that bird calling security on me or what? :) To continue, the security guard was sent out to see if I were a "bad guy" using a long telephoto lens to take pictures of the dam. I have been out to this spot many, many times and this has never happened before. At the time, I had put my DSLR away and was using the Mamiya RZ67, which was pointed towards the dam but I explained that I was not taking a picture of the dam but of the geese directly in front of me. He was also curious that I was still using film. He then asked for my ID and I gave him my retired Air Force ID. After he called in to run me through the system, they concluded I was not a "bad guy" after all. Long story, but I thought it appropriate for "Silly Tuesday".

I learned the military already tried to use bees as spies - so why shouldn´t they train harmless looking birds too ;) Great story and a lovely shot!

Wow - I forgot about the dam and the security and all that business...I was thinking maybe you were near prison property or something but I know that is downstream from the dam....too weird. I would have thought that the Air FOrce ID would have been sufficient...What a week you have had!!!The bird is miked, watch out!!

@Denny Jump Photo: Yes, that was too weird! It probably would not have been an issue if I had been using a point-and-shoot camera, but mount a camera on a tripod and its another story. I did have a couple of frames that showed the dam in the background but decided it would be best not to post them. Now here is a good laugh for you Denny. While I was shooting with the 5D, I guy came up to me with an iPhone and wanted to know if I could take a picture with my camera and send it to his iPhone. Can you believe that?

The Guard Bird! A fine shot and interesting story. I hate the paranoia we run into these days. A sad sign of the times.
