Lupine and California Poppies

Posted by
Bill Brown (California, United States) on 12 May 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I captured this field of lupine and poppies, last spring, adjacent to the Intel plant in Folsom. Sadly, I won't see this scene again this year because the area has since been cleared. Now a series of solar panels occupy this spot.

Wow I am glad that you saved this image for the future. This really is reminiscent of the Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush that grow amongst each other in Texas. The Bluebonnet is, of course, in the Lupine family and although the Indian Paintbrush and Golden Poppy are not related - at a distance the colors resemble....When Barbara and I attended Sierra College way back in the 60's, the hills and areas around Rocklon there were just like this in the spring...we truly were Flower Children in those days, hanging out in the field with some cheese, wine and bread...Gosh I sure remember those times - Thanks Bill. This is gorgeous! BTW, is this land owned by Intel too, or is someone else installing the panels like SMUD or someone? Just curious..Beautiful image Bill!

@Denny Jump Photo: Thanks for your comments Denny! I think the field is part of the Intel property.

Beautiful colors that dot the landscape under the great blue sky. I bet you could come up with an eye-catching composition of solar panels, captured from the right perspective. ;-)

@Steven: Thanks for your comments Steven! I don't know about eye-catching, but I'll try the get a picture of the solar panels in the next few days and post it.
