Snoqualmie Falls

Posted by
Bill Brown (California, United States) on 1 July 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Snoqualmie Falls is one of Washington state's most popular scenic attractions. More than 1.5 million visitors come to the Falls every year. The waterfall measures 268 feet (82 meters). It is located just 25 miles outside Seattle. I captured this image one day prior to returning home from Seattle. There was a tall construction crane sitting right at the top of the falls, so I had to crop tight at the top to exclude it.

Great shot. You can feel the force of the water.

@Bettina: Thanks for your comments Bettina! I actually felt the water while getting this shot. There was a tremendous water spray, so I had to shot quick and turn the camera away before it got too wet.

Cruz from exurbia, United States

I think I’m feeling the spray from here! You captured the power of the falls so well.

Oh, my! I want to see just a tad bit more, up higher into the shot. I love this!

@LauraS: Thanks for your comments Laura! I would have included more at the top of the frame, however, there was a bright yellow construction crane positioned right at the top of the waterfall which would have totally ruined the photo.

I love the motion of it, it really draws you in, like the other commenters mentioned, you feel the spray and hear the thunder. Good call to capture it crisply in this way!
