Half Dome with Reflection

Posted by
Bill Brown (California, United States) on 8 August 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This a pre-dawn capture a little more than an hour before sunrise. A setting full moon also provided some fill light. Exposure was just over 10 minutes.

Canon EOS 5D 610 second F/5.6 ISO 100 35 mm

@Susan: Thank you Susan! I would like to do more night shots and longer exposures to capture star trails. I just need to find an area away from city lights that's not too long of a drive.

LauraS from Chico, United States

Are you kidding? Wow. Incredible shot, Bill. Just stunning. Ten minutes. Wow.

8 Aug 2010 4:22pm

@LauraS: Thanks for your comments Laura! No kidding, 10 minutes. Actually, the 10 minute exposure consumes 20 minutes of time. With automatic noise reduction set for long exposures (and you need to do that to avoid excessive noise), the camera processes the file an equal amount of time, in other words, if you exposure for 10 minutes, the camera processes the file for 10 minutes after you close the shutter to reduce the noise.
